Appointments System

If your appointment is urgent, please telephone the surgery at 08:30. Requests for urgent same day appointments will be assessed by your GP who will allocate an appointment appropriate to your needs. If you call later than 09:30, we may not be able to give you an appointment the same day.

If your request is not urgent, please phone after 09:30 to book a routine appointment two or more days in advance. Please do not request a same day appointment if you do not have an urgent medical need.

Patients are encouraged to book routine or follow-up appointments in advance. Unless you are suffering from an urgent medical problem, you will be offered an appointment in 2-4 days time. This will provide more flexibility in the system to enable us to offer a same day service for urgent appointment requests and emergencies.

Evening surgeries are primarily for those who work and are unable to attend morning surgeries, or those reliant on others for transport. Emergencies at weekends will continue to be dealt with by the out of hours service.

Please remember that GP consultations are ten minutes long. If you have more than one problem, your doctor may ask you to book another appointment.

Telephone Advice

If you wish to talk to a doctor, please telephone during morning surgery and ask the receptionist to place you on your GP’s telephone list. He will endeavour to call you back between 11.30 and 12.00 noon.

If you phone after 12.00 noon, you may not be able to speak with your own doctor until the following day. However, if your call is urgent, you will be placed on the duty doctor’s afternoon telephone list.

Extended Practice Opening Hours

The practice is responding to the government’s drive to improve GP access for commuters and other patients who are unable to attend for a routine appointment during normal surgery hours.

Appointments are available from 18:30 – 19:30 on Monday evenings. These appointments must be booked in advance.

Telephone Booking System

We have an automated appointment booking system to work alongside our existing telephone and internet booking system. When telephoning the practice, you will be given the option to make an appointment (or to change/cancel an existing appointment) 24 hours a day. This service is currently for GP appointments only.

Please note, when cancelling an appointment using the automated system, you must give at least one hour’s notice. If this is not possible, you will need to speak to a receptionist.

Automated Check-In

Please use our touch screen in reception to let us know that you have arrived for your appointment. This can be used for all doctor and nurse appointments.

All you have to do is press the month you were born, the day you were born (1-31) and the first letter of your surname. The computer system will then mark you as having arrived and advise you where to wait for your appointment.

Home Visits

For a request to be visited at home call: 01379 870689

Home visit requests are always handled by your doctor. It would greatly help us if requests could be made before 09:30. If at all possible, please attend the surgery as each visit takes the time of at least four consultations.

The doctor is not obliged to visit and will discuss each request with you.

Text Reminder Service

We have a texting service which allows you to receive confirmation and reminders about your appointments.

To have this service you will need to register by completing a consent form.

Please remember to update your contact details with us when you change address, telephone numbers and email address.

Late For Your Appointment

Please attend your appointment on time, if you are late you may not be seen. If you are not seen you will not be able to rearrange your appointment until the next working day-except in the event of an medical emergency that requires immediate attention.

If you require an interpreter to attend with you when you see your Doctor please notify the receptionist and she will arrange this for you.
